It is not unusual to see a famous playwright emerging from Parker's antiquarian book shop, or a well-known movie actress in jeans at an outdoor cafe, and absolutely no paparazzi. John Ringling's incredible mansion, like those of other famous names in American history, is built along the Gulf of Mexico, and includes the Shakespearean in-the-round-style Osolo Theatre, a museum chronicling the history of his famous circus, and the Ringling Museum which holds the largest collection of baroque art outside of Europe. One thing Sarasota does have in common with the other towns along the Gulf Coast is incredibly perfect weather and the beautiful white sands of Lido Beach year round. If you are looking for the quiet, tropical Florida that used to be, and want to experience it in an atmosphere of elegance and top quality, then Sarasota may be what you have been seeking.
