Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Sarasota - Bradenton area.
Sarasota is different from the rest of Florida, indeed from most anywhere, and the residents here would like to keep it that way. Quiet and unassuming, the antithesis of ostentation, Sarasota is home to some of the nation's most privately wealthy and artistic individuals, whose winter homes are tucked away where you will never find them, within the city, along the Gulf of Mexico, or among the resorts on Siesta and Long Boat Keys, and who have brought with them many rare works of art that wind up in local museums to surprise the tourists. It is not unusual to see a famous playwright emerging from Parker's antiquarian book shop, or a well-known movie actress in jeans at an outdoor cafe, and absolutely no paparazzi. John Ringling's incredible mansion, like those of other famous names in American history, is built along the Gulf of Mexico, and includes the Shakespearean in-the-round-style Osolo Theatre, a museum chronicling the history of his famous circus, and the Ringling Museum which holds the largest collection of baroque art outside of Europe. One thing Sarasota does have in common with the other towns along the Gulf Coast is incredibly perfect weather and the beautiful white sands of Lido Beach year round. If you are looking for the quiet, tropical Florida that used to be, and want to experience it in an atmosphere of elegance and top quality, then Sarasota may be what you have been seeking. But please, behave yourself.
